Start Spreading the News...

I WANT TO BE A PART OF IT, NEW YORK NEW YORK! After 4 long years, I made my return to one of my favorite places, NYC! I got the opportunity and had to take it! So I went to visit the city for New Years' weekend. It was great to be back in the craziness that is the city and also to have a little quality time with some great friends. My dear friend and former roomie, Sheryl, was kind enough to let me stay with her. My trip, although short, was perfect, eventful and restful all at the same time.
My first day we went into the city on a mission! We needed handbags! That is one of my favorite things is the wheeling and dealing that goes on in Chinatown. Somehow, shopping where the price is negotiable gives me a feeling of control and accomplishment. Strange isn't it, you may not always get the greatest deal, but you definitely feel that way. I must admit, I feel like I have some skills when it comes to these types of negotiation and I get a little shoppers' high when I am done.
After our crazy negotiations and a few new friends, we headed into Times Square. As we snapped the pics, the police were trying desperately to clear out the square, little did we know there was a suspicious package threatening each one of our lives. But no worries, it was all clear and we got our cute pics as well.
After a quick stop for my favorite cheesecake at Roxy's Diner, we headed over to Rockafeller Center to see the famous tree and skating rink. The city was unusually crowded that night, but it was amazing! I don't know what it is about being in the city, but the feeling of being completely independent walking through the crowded streets is incredible. I absolutely love it! Sheryl and I had a blast exploring the city that day. Thanks SKG!
While in the city, I met up with my dearest Pug! I hate having her so far away so it was great to chill with her for the day! We started the day with breakfast in Herald Square and then explored the shopping there. Unfortunately, it was more window shopping than anything else. We stopped by the Empire State Building for a quick photo opp and spent the rest of the day going through the city. I loved being there.
Of course the real event of the day was our trip to the famous party in New York's Time Square. Yes ladies and gents, that is where I rung in 2008. We had to get there by 4pm and were not allowed to leave once we had arrived (not even to use the restroom) so it was quite the adventure. We had plenty of time to make friends(and enemies) with the interesting people around us. (If you want more stories, you will have to ask me personally.) But some of the highlights were definitely Pug and I being teaching comps again for a moment, the great performances(we heard each one 3x) and the incredible limbo contest (thanks to jason). I felt like I did incredibly well considering the fact that I was wearing heels and my feet were freezing off! The low points had my feets dying of cold and a drunk man trying to force a large balloon in my face in an inappropriate way. All in all, it was the most fun I have had at New Years in a long time! It was a great way to ring in this new year! I think everything is going to be great in 2008!
