Pardon the tardiness in these postings, but I am struggling to catch up! About two months ago, a friend called me to run in a relay race. I had always wanted to do one, but due to some crazy circumstances I was not able to sign up this year. When April called to ask me to take the place of someone on their team, I was thrilled! Not trained and ready but THRILLED. :)
For those of you who haven't heard of the ragnar races, our team of 12 ran from Santa Barbara to Dana Point, which is about 188 miles. We started the day early on a Friday morning, meeting around 5 am in order to drive to Santa B for the starting line! We were all bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready for the race.
When we arrived at the starting line, we were pumped and ready to go! Our team name was the Hustle Hoffs, a nod to our magnificent mascot, the one the only DAVID HASSELHOFF! That's right, "Don't hassle the Hoff". Thanks to him, we were a force to be reckoned with!
We spent a lot of time posing to prep for the race.
Then during the first few legs, we decided to finally decorate the vans. I am pretty sure we had people confused with statements such as "Don't Hussle the Hoff", "Hoff off!" and "Wax on Wax Hoff!"
We had a blast snacking, chatting, taking pictures, and oh yeah RUNNING. We did run and run and run... it was a blast and I loved every moment.
Due to some last minute changes, our van didn't get much down time. We tried to sleep in various places and times during those two days, but it didn't work out so well. I think we got a grand total of 90 minutes sleep time in over 36 hours. Needless to say, I was a little loopy by the end.
In those 36 hours without sleep, we made lots of funny memories. I could spend all day with some of the great quotable quotes, however they might not be funny to anyone else.
Some of the highlights were:
Helaman asking and asking and asking Megan about her citizen's academy. Yes the same questions everytime....
Bryan telling us we couldn't eat anything that made us smell better, like bacon.
And the fact that we were so tired at the end we left the van door wide open at IHOP, but it smelled so bad in there I am sure NO ONE even got close enough to try to steal anything!
ONE LAST THING:
We heard early in the race that a certain celebrity was running in our midst. I asked one of her alleged teammates if the rumor was true and we got confirmation and later photographic evidence of her presence. Hold on to your hats boys, its your childhood fantasy....the one the only...Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani-Amber)!!!!!

Hey Morgan, it's Kim (Hansen) Makechnie. You look AMAZING. The race looks like an absolute blast. Can't believe the mad two days of running, you crazy girl you. Never been a runner...always wished I was. And the brush with celebrity, simply amazing.
Finally, the post I've been waiting for! I bet when you were watching Saved By the Bell growing up you never dreamed you would actually one day get to meet Kelly! I'm jealous.
